Our Aussie Whites have been selectively bred for their meat production qualities and well-marbled succulent meat.
Developed in Australia, Aussie White Sheep stand out as a remarkable composite breed focused on meat production. These medium to large-sized sheep boast a pure white, dense, and soft fleece, eliminating the need for shearing. This unique characteristic, along with their adaptability, positions Aussie Whites as a versatile and low-maintenance breed, revolutionising traditional sheep farming practices.
Aussie Whites are renowned for their calm and docile temperament, making them easy to handle and manage. This placid demeanour not only enhances the overall farming experience but also makes Aussie Whites suitable for both commercial and hobby farming operations.
Aussie Whites have been selectively bred for their meat production qualities, focusing on achieving optimal growth rates and meat yield. The Aussie White lamb, highly regarded for its meat quality, offers a combination of tenderness, succulence, and well-marbled texture. Whether enjoyed as chops or roasts, the flavour of Aussie White lamb is often described as delicate and mild, catering to consumers with a preference for high-quality, flavourful meat.
As a relatively new breed, Aussie Whites continue to capture attention due to their overall contribution to the Australian sheep farming landscape and innovative approaches to meat production.
Before introducing Aussie Whites, we maintained a herd of Dorper and Damara sheep, known for their meat but challenged by temperament issues. In 2018, Tattykeel Aussie White rams were added to the herd, initiating a gradual transition away from Dorper and Damara sheep. While remnants of the previous breeds may still be visible with black and brown spots, the integration of Aussie White Sheep at Eastgrove represents a positive shift towards a more manageable and high-quality flock.
