The legacy unveiled: Rambling Man’s first calf drop

Announcing the new generation at Edgeroi Organics. The arrival of the first progeny from our esteemed purebred Speckle Park bull is evidence of our breeding program

Welcome to the new generation at Edgeroi Organics!

At Edgeroi Organics, the excitement is palpable as we proudly announce the arrival of the first progeny from our esteemed purebred Speckle Park bull, ‘Rambling Man.’ Purchased at the inaugural North West NSW Speckle Park sale at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange in 2022, Rambling Man, or as Martine affectionately calls him – Handsome, has truly left his mark on our farm.

Rambling Man’s debut: A Handsome beginning

Bred at Panorama Farms Speckle Park stud, Turrawan, Handsome sired his first progeny in late 2023, marking a significant milestone for Edgeroi Organics. The anticipation was met with joy as we welcomed a cohort of predominantly heifer calves, each adorned with a variety of distinctive Speckle Park patterning.

Meet the new arrivals: Pumpkin and Cucumber

Pumpkin, Handsome’s first heifer calf born in late 2023, immediately captured our hearts. With a Limousine cow as her mother, Pumpkin’s striking dark brown markings earned her the name, reminiscent of the light orange/brown hue she displayed when first born.

Next in line is Cucumber, born in January 2024. Another of Handsome’s heifer calves, Cucumber’s mother is a Limousine Murray Grey cross. Named by Alex to complement her sister Pumpkin, Cucumber brings an extra layer of charm to our growing Speckle Park family.

The heir: A handsome bull calf emerges

Adding a touch of masculinity to the mix is Handsome’s first bull calf, born to a Speckle Park cow purchased in 2022. This young fellow promises to carry on the legacy, embodying the desirable traits that make Speckle Park cattle stand out.

Radish and the vegetable theme

Enter Radish, a heifer calf born in December 2023 to Hoppity, a Speckle Park cow purchased in calf in 2022. Following the vegetatable theme for names, Radish joins the lineup with her unique charm and Speckle Park allure.
